Schools, careers and Cameron

Today I've had 'the talk' with my 11 yr old daughter, Crystal. No, not the 'sex talk'... the more important 'Career/I expect you to be a millionaire talk'.

She came home with her final primary school report and started discussing her strengths and weaknesses and what she is expecting from high school (she has her first taster day this week). After a while of debating how important/unimportant it is to have a career plan at 11, we started discussing what the world will look like when she is 18.

I realised then just how important it will be that we have a Conservative in No. 10 by the time my children leave home- my daughter in particular. She has little or no interest in health and safety, would make a crap council jobsworth and isn't keen on running around the countryside keeping little foxy woxy safe.

I asked her what she wanted to be and I got three wonderful responses: 1. I want to choose what I do with my days, and I want variety 2. I want to do something related to animals and technology 3. I'm not sure if I need to go to Uni- I quite fancy getting into work.

We therefore have to conclude that if New Labour are still in power in 5 years time, my daughter is up the proverbial creek. With the increase in red tape, depletion f the countryside, stealth taxes on small businesses, top-up fees and staying at school until your 18 is not a good situation to bring an ambitious tory girl into.

Roll on 2010.

A new dawn... a brand new blog

Hi all,

Today I start a new blog simply for political thoughts, rants and tales. I also have my livejournal account for more intimate/personal thoughts (eternalrocks.... I went into the woods because I wanted to live). \

Quite what should appear on the personal journal and what should appear on my political blog is a grey area - as a feminist, conservative singe mother the political realm can spread inside my home, head and bed but also out into 'proper' politics such as local issues, the economy and international relations.

Keep looking for rants and tales from the pennines as I pour out my thoughts on the new political climate.

Remember: Live Faster, Try Harder.
